The village of Ainbal is located in the kaza of Chouf one of the 6 kazas of the Mount-Lebanon mohafazah. The mohazazah of Mount-Lebanon is one of the eight Lebanon mohazats. There are several interpretations for the name “Ainbal”. One stems from Aramaic, meaning “Divine eye” Ainbal is distinguished by the beauty of its surrounding landscape. There are a large number of caves near Ainbal. There are also the ruins of Kouroum el Qarya or "Vines Village" located on a hill overlooking the village

Federation of Municipalities of Chouf Es Souayjani was founded on 07/11/1979, by the decree number 2394. Its administrative center is the city of Baaqline. It is composed of 9 Municipalities Baaqline, Gharifeh, Aathrine, Kahlouniyeh, Ainbal, Mazraa, Ain Ouzain, Jdaideh, Semqaniyeh, who have chosen to join their actions to be more efficient.
